  1. I have been a big Idol fan, but now, I think I will boycott the show. If I don’t, what kind of example am I setting for my children? Its not lukewarm, it is wolves in sheeps clothing trying to dilute, devalue,re-direct focus, blasphemy……….Oprah kind of religion. I don’t think some of the contestants even thought about this…….? Its a free country,I know, but “Christ followers” must listen to the Holy Spirit when these events occur and know that this is not Christ Jesus that is beng praised. Its “whatever” God you believe in. I am very disappointed, but not surprised. If I was a Idol contestant and professed myself as a “Christ follower”, believe that Jesus is God and he is the only way to salvation through repentment, commitment, and belief……….I could have never sang the song the way they did.

  2. Amen, brother. Except for the fact that they changed “Jesus” into “shephard,” it was pretty amazing that it “got through” and aired.

  3. I must admit, I was surprised as well. Also, I believe the week before they also had Dolly Parton and another group sing about Jesus.

  4. I think the producers have shown they know exactly how to lock down segments of the market, one by one. The number of blogs on this one shows, I think, that they succeeded..

  5. Here was my reaction to the show in three phases:
    1)Surprise and excitement!
    followed by
2)Chagrin at their marketing manipulation (you’re spot on Barry)
    followed by
3)Holy Abandonment–God will use this regardless of the economic motives. To God be the Glory!

It’s too bad, however, that most of the charities all that money go to include loads of money that goes to “family planning services,” i.e., abortion and contraception.

  6. I was surprised when one of my friends told me that they sang that on American idol. I was pleased to hear it, but curious as to why. It will be interesting to see what kind of ripple effect that has through America
