John Burke at the Willow Leadership Summit

Posted by mattodegaard on August 7, 2008

The next session of the Willow Creek Leadership Summit is John Burke

“What kind of soil do we need as leaders to help people grow?”

1 Cor 3:6-9 – God causes the growth, but we are responsible for the soil.

“Our mission as the church is to minister to messy people.”

“Cultivate the soil with grace giving acceptance.”

“What are the barriers to grace in your community?”

“What if we invite people and they never change – then you’ll be like Jesus. He invited Judas and he never changed. He was a liar and a cheat until the end.

“Fruit Happens” – Jesus

A cool experiment he did with his church: the 60/60 experiment
–Every 60 minutes for 60 days reconnect with God and stay connected with your community as much as possible.

This has been a great session with John Burke about being the Grace and Love of Jesus to the community and eliminating the barriers of Grace to those searching for meaning and purpose and God.

  1. John’s book “No Perfect People Allowed” in an absolute must read. I also heard him speak at the Exponential conference in Orlando. Great guy.
